Janmashtami, an auspicious Hindu festival which is celebrated every year with great fervor and excitement as it marks the birth of Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna is considered to be the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Krishna was born to Devaki and Vasudeva,in order to protect the citizens of Mathura from the evil King Kansa. As a child, Lord Krishna was a naughty boy who would steal dahi and butter to eat. And so, his devotees remember Krishna on the auspicious day of Janmasthami by reinacting his famous dahi handi scene-- boys form human pyramids and then try breaking an earthen pot fixed at a height filled with dahi.

Independence Day Speech : देश आजादी की सालगिरह के जश्न में डूबा हुआ है। भारत को आजादी मिले 75 बरस पूरे हो गए हैं। इस खास अवसर को भारत सरकार आजादी के अमृत महोत्सव के तौर पर मना रही है। साल में देश के तीन राष्ट्रीय पर्व होते हैं- गणतंत्र दिवस 26 जनवरी, 15 अगस्त स्वंतत्रता दिवस और 2 अक्टूबर गांधी जयंती। स्वंतत्रता दिवस भारतीय लोकतंत्र का सबसे बड़ा पर्व है। इस पर्व को देशभक्ति से और ज्यादा ओतप्रोत करने के लिए भारत सरकार हर घर तिरंगा अभियान चला रही है। इसके तहत देशभर में हर घर पर राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराने की योजना है।  हर वर्ष आजादी की सालगिरह पर स्कूलों, कॉलेजों, दफ्तरों आदि में कई कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन होता है जहां देशभक्ति के गीत बजाए जाते हैं और लोग भाषण देते हैं। यहां हम आपको एक छोटे, सरल और दमदार स्वतंत्रता दिवस भाषण का उदाहरण दे रहे हैं-

आज हम भारतीय लोकतंत्र का सबसे बड़ा त्योहार स्वतंत्र दिवस मना रहे हैं। हमारे देश को आजादी मिले 75 साल पूरे हो गए हैं। 15 अगस्त 1947 को हमारे देश को 200 वर्षों के ब्रिटिश शासन से मुक्ति मिली थी, इसलिए तब से हम हर साल 15 अगस्त का दिन स्वतंत्रता दिवस के तौर पर मनाते आ रहे हैं। यह भारत का सबसे बड़ा राष्ट्रीय पर्व है। यह दिन सिर्फ आजादी की सालगिरह का जश्न मनाने का दिन नहीं है बल्कि यह दिन इस पर भी गर्व करने का है कि आज हर भारतीय नागरिक को देश में पूरी आजादी के साथ जीवन जीने का अधिकार है। भारतीय संविधान ने हर नागरिक को समान अधिकार दिए हैं। इन्हीं अधिकारों ने हर भारतीय नागरिक को देश और समाज में सम्मान व आजादी के साथ जीने के लिए समर्थ बनाया है।

दोस्तों, भारत विविधताओं में एकता वाला देश है। यहां विभिन्न राज्यों में 121 से ज्यादा भाषाएं बोली जाती हैं। 270 मातृ भाषाएं हैं। विभिन्न राज्यों की अलग-अलग संस्कृतियां हैं। इन सबके बावजूद भारत एक है। देश के हर राज्य, हर इलाके का नागरिक गर्व के साथ 15 अगस्त के दिन स्वतंत्रता दिवस मनाता है।

आज का दिन यह याद करने का भी है कि आजादी हर किसी को इतनी आसानी से नहीं मिलती। इस मुल्क को आजाद कराने के लिए महात्मा गांधी, भगत सिंह, नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस, चंद्रशेखर आजाद, सरदार वल्लभभाई पटेल, लाला लाजपत राय, रामप्रसाद बिस्मिल समेत सैंकड़ों महान स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों के अपना सब कुछ न्योछावर कर दिया। आज इन स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों के बलिदान को याद कर उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि देने का भी दिन है। 

15 अगस्त के दिन हर साल भारत के प्रधानमंत्री दिल्ली के ऐतिहासिक लाल किले पर तिरंगा फहराने के बाद देश को संबोधित करते हैं। कई कल्याणकारी घोषणाएं करते हैं। देश की ताजा उपलब्धियां बताते हैं। स्कूलों व सरकारी दफ्तरों आदि जगहों पर भी तिरंगा फहराया जाता है। राष्ट्रगान गाया जाता है। हर जगह देशभक्ति के गीत बजते सुनाई पड़ते हैं और सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन होता है। स्वतंत्रता दिवस पर राजधानी तथा सभी सरकारी भवनों को रंग बिरंगी लाइटों से सजाया जाता है। स्वतंत्रता दिवस की पूर्व संध्या पर राष्ट्रपति 'राष्ट्र के नाम संबोधन' देते हैं।
